Our Summer Musical Weeks are full-scale performing arts intensives, giving children and teenagers the opportunity to train, create, and perform like a real theatre company. We have Performance training across Essex and Suffolk this Summer.

At Act First Workshops, we do things differently.

 

We are not a dance school — we are a drama school, and everything we do starts with acting, storytelling, and character. That’s why our Musical Theatre Weeks attract boys and girls in equal measure — because it’s about performance, not just routines.

 

Yes, we sing. Yes, we dance.

But first and foremost… we Act First!

 

And after all — who doesn’t love a musical?

Our weeks are led by industry experts and fully qualified teachers, ensuring your young person has a safe, supportive, and exciting experience while building real skills and confidence.

 

Open to beginners and experienced performers, every child is encouraged to grow at their own pace, find their voice, and feel part of something special.

 

For nearly 12 years, Act First has been running high-quality workshops and classes across Essex and Suffolk, helping hundreds of young people develop confidence, creativity, and a love of performance.

Each week includes:
- Morning musical rehearsals, ACT-DANCE-SING
- Afternoon theatre skills and creative workshops
- A fully staged performance for parents at the end of the week

 Musical Theatre Training (split by age group)

Seniors ( 11–18):
Examples - Hamilton, Six,Mamma Mia
Focus on performance technique, character depth, confidence, and ensemble work.

Intermediates (5-10):
Developing vocal confidence, storytelling skills, choreography, and stage presence.

Beginners (4-6) (Bildeston only) 
Building confidence, expression, teamwork, and a love of performing.
